Seed Dispersal - Year 5 Style

To explore the idea of seed dispersal, Year 5 took the science lesson outside.
The kids became animals, seeds, flowers, wind etc... Have a look at the chaotic learning that ensued.
I will tell you one thing... They can all tell you the different type of seed dispersal now.
Pick a kid and ask them!

Justine is ready to give out the fruits and seeds

Let the 'fruit' picking commence!
This 'bird' stuffed himself with tons of fruit. How do you thing he
disperses his seeds?

Think pepper pot plant!

Explosive dispersal!!! The pepper pot has popped!!

Our Endeavours - Empathy for Others

The first of the BSL Endeavours Year 5 explored was 'Empathy for Others' The children thought that the best way to fully understad it would be to come up with their own definition.
Have a read of what the class came up with:

Empathy for Others
(By Year 5)

In Year 5 we show empathy by playing with new students and students who are on their own to make them feel welcomed.

Our class mentor helps to show new students around with a smile on his face, remembering what it was like to be new.

We are encouraged to bring in old, but useful, items or things that we don’t use to be donated to the less fortunate.

The class also created 'Empathy' badges to go with their definition.
Here they are.
Justine created an innovative badge to demonstrate 'Empathy for Others'

Other children also created some interesting badges.
Here are Nathan's, Justine's, Hedia's, Ahmad's, Ryan's and Javan's.
